A key stage of the PHOENICE project is to upgrade the reference vehicle, a JEEP Compass 1.3 PHEV Eu6d, to demonstrate the maximal potential of a plug-in hybrid vehicle, optimised to reduce both fuel consumption and pollutant emissions in real driving conditions.
To perform this upgrade, the reference vehicle was first characterized at a roller test bench. In parallel, several new components, specifically developed for the prototype, were assembled with the prototype engine. It includes a new eTurbo, an Electric Heated Catalyst, a specific Aftertreatment System with Urea Dosing System and a new 48V system (battery, DC-DC converter, wiring harness, etc.). After the disassembly of the reference vehicle these last weeks, the assembly of the final PHOENICE prototype is currently ongoing.
